eSoles Biomechanics
Cycling places unique consistent pressures on the foot. The foot and body is designed to walk and run and the pressures and biomechanics of cycling place different demands on the cyclist. Ideally cycling biomechanics would align the hip, knee and foot to produce optimal power transfer. However the forces that cycling exerts on the feet generally cause most cyclist to pronate (knee track to the inside) our footbed beds considerably improve alignment. This also helps the biggest power producing muscles fire and function better and helps balance the strength between the vastus medialus (muscle to the inside of the patella near the patella) and vastus lateralus (outside of patella). Imbalances in these muscles are one of the leading causes of cycling knee pain.
eSoles Design
In line with our philosophy to produce the best footbed for every activity, we took all of the aforementioned factors into consideration in our development of a cycling specific footbed. There is particular emphasis placed on the medial and lateral profile of the footbed to provide optimal support. EVA density is chosen based on rider profile. Each footbeds is custom fitted to the shoe it will be used with.
